The Wild Stage: A Cabaret for the Working Class
THE WILD STAGE IS BACK
This time in my hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I grew up right here in this blue collar “steel” city.
I’ve always related to the themes of German Kabarett music from the 1920’s on a personal level. That’s because Kabarett is about everyday folks— their troubles & their joys. In short, it’s real.
That’s why I had to bring The Wild Stage back home to Pittsburgh. This show will demonstrate parallels between the reality of Berlin in the 1920’s and Pittsburgh in the 2020’s. Berlin had sky-rocketing inflation, political upheaval, and most people were nostalgic for what was behind them. Sound familiar? That’s because we have all those problems and attitudes here in Pittsburgh.
So come and join us in REAL SPEAKEASY at 565 Live for an immersive evening of 1920’s Berlin Kabarett. Get wrapped up in the gorgeous songs, poignant poetry, and hilarious comedic sketches that will have you relating to everything on a personal level. Featured works by Kurt Weill, Mischa Spoliansky, Melinda Hughes and Jeremy Limb, and Friedrich Hollaender.
